Aldeburgh Food Festival 26-27 September

The 2008 Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival took place in East Suffolk between 19th and 28th September 2008. For the third year, Mark Hix will be demonstrating and signing his latest book at the 2009 event, which takes place on 26th and 27th September.

There was tremendous publicity on BBC Radio Suffolk, through the East Anglian Daily Times and Suffolk Magazine and in the national press. Rose Prince, writing in the Saturday Telegraph described the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival as ‘the most significant food festival in Britain’ and listed it as one of her top five Food Festivals in Britain.

The Festival culminated in a two day extravaganza at Snape Maltings, where over 70 producers showcased their local produce, most of which had been grown or produced on the Suffolk Coast and Heaths. The marquees were decorated with oversized lobsters, crabs and fish as well as a large number of fishing nets lent by local fishermen.

Work is already underway on the 2009 Festival, the format of which will be slightly different. The Festival will commence with the two day event at Snape Maltings over the weekend of 26th and 27th September, followed by a week of activities throughout the region.
