Bridport Festival
Expect delicious smells to waft along Dorset’s Jurassic coast when the popular Bridport Food Festival takes place on Saturday 27th June in the town’s picturesque Asker Meadows. Now in its 6th year the event will welcome over 30 local producers from across the region to create a host of deliciously fun events for locals and visitors, young and old alike.
Mark Hix will be cooking with his new brew– Hix Oyster Ale (from local brewers Palmers) and for the credit-crunch conscious, food writer Tamasin Day-Lewis will be cooking recipes from her forthcoming book Supper for a Song. Plus those hoping to live the Good Life without a Garden can get green-fingered advice on growing vegetables in pots from Bridport Allotment Society.
Taking time out from his soon to be opened restaurant (in nearby Beaminster) BBC Masterchef Winner and ace forager, Mat Follas will be joining the festival to demonstrate the cookery skills that saw him take first prize in the popular television competition
What’s more, both master chefs-in-the-making and complete novices can get hands-on in a 12-tonne mobile kitchen The Feast Truck and learn a new kitchen skill or two under expert tuition with a series of FREE workshops being offered throughout the day.
Thirsty festivalgoers can take their pick from over 20 local beers and 10 ciders from the Beer & Cider Festival, which is running alongside the Food Festival.
From Monday 22nd June, Food events will be taking place across the town to give everyone a taste of what’s to come. Including Sushi Workshops with local sushi maestro Shige Makezoe using delicious local fish, a celebration of all things sweet Be Kind to the Bees event at Report’s Community Orchard and a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party hosted in The Bull Hotel’s spectacular Ballroom featuring a Best of Bradford Spread from Leakers Bakery
