Lyme Regis Food Festival 25 May
Lyme Regis will host its first Food Festival on the 25th May 2009. On the beach, at the foot of the town, producers from all over the region will showcase the wonderful and diverse food that comes from the surrounding land and sea. FOOD ROCKS! will be an opportunity to taste produce, hear how its made and meet the people who make it.
The Town Mill Bakery and Hix Oyster and Fish House Restaurant are both key supporters of the Festival. In a demonstration kitchen on the beach, MARK HIX will be cooking with MITCH TONKS (writer of recently published and successful FISH). Also sharing their knowledge and skill will be AIDAN CHAPMAN from The Town Mill Bakery, MICHAEL CAINES (Executive Chef for Gidleigh Park with 2 michelin stars and owner of the Adobe group of hotels and restaurants) and young chef Nathan Outlaw (whose restaurant opened in 2007 in Fowey, Cornwall and has already achieved a Michelin star). Demonstrations will take place throughout the day and timings will be listed on our website.
Many local producers will be cooking and selling on the beach. Scallops, oysters, crab cakes, spicey lamb burgers and spit road pork cooked while you wait. This is a Festival of Food, a marquee full of produce, a beach alive with the smell of freshly cooked food and a day to celebrate the produce, producers and cooks of Lyme Regis and the surrounding counties
