I was introduced to Testi by my foodie friend and writer Charles Campion. Like me Charles enjoys something a little off the beaten track and very authentic . Testi is a very comfortable and authentic looking dining room. At the centre of the room is the traditional open grill where vegetables chargrill, breads toast and meats sizzle. I came here to specifically sample the grilled lambs testicles – that’s not where its name comes from, Testi is the Turkish word for water jug. The testicals are called Thesticals, they are soft in texture crisp and smoky from the grill. Other great dishes, well anything from the grill really; spare ribs; grilled quail; lamb chops; and kidneys. Starters are also great too particularly the ali nazik which is a dish of aubergine in creamy yoghurt.
