Meet the Ecosaurs
Meet the Ecosaurs is a beautifully realised children’s story introducing local Jurassic Coast dinosaurs and other creatures. Written by Lyme resident Janis Lane with charming illustrations by Somerset-based Jennifer Crabb, the book uses historically accurate information as a backdrop to a story that thrills, fascinates and educates children in equal measure.
In addition to the story, the book features Fact Files, a Make Your Own Timeline activity and a recipe for a Jurassic Coast Layer Cake (created with chef and food writer Mark Hix), representing the geological layers revealed along the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast. Mark Hix says “This is a fantastic cake that you can have lots of fun with at home with the kids. It’s a great festive cake for all celebration and has that creative educational touch to it. Have fun!”
Meet the Ecosaurs is Janis Lane's first book. She is currently developing further tales in the Ecosaurs series and is also writing her first novel. She lives in Lyme Regis with her husband and three daughters.
Join Mark Hix and Janis Lane at 1pm on Sunday 8th September when they will be cooking the Jurassic Layer cake with children from Uplyme School, where Mark works closely with the children throughout the year to learn about food, via the Academy of Culinary Arts 'Adopt a School' programme.
