Roger Saul - Sharpham Park

Roger is best known for founding Mulberry and he quickly became known as the accessory designer du jour making collections for Ralph Lauren and Burberry amongst others. By 1979 Mulberry had won the Queens Award for Export and Roger became chairman of the London Designer Collections. Another Queen’s Award soon followed and in 1992 Roger was voted British Classic Designer of the year.

In 1996 Roger and Monty opened the award winning Charlton House hotel, winning a Michelin star within its first year and the hotel was described by Hip Hotels as one of the top 25 hotels in the world.

In 2004 Roger bought Sharpham Park, a 1000 year old ancient deer park which he restored to productivity by creating an organic farm offering sustainably farmed, healthy and natural food, including growing and milling spelt on the farm. Sharpham Park boasts a range of home grown spelt products, all of which are naturally a great source of fibre and can help ensure a regular fibre intake throughout the day, starting with a delicious breakfast cereal; Porridge, Muesli, Granolas, Spelt Bran Flakes or Multigrain Flakes and then moving on to Flours, Pastas and Spelt Risotto Mixes, all of which are sold nationwide.

Roger Saul is also the principal dynamo behind the Kilver Court Designer Village. Roger originally bought Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet as the headquarters for Mulberry but these moved to London in 2007. In 2008 Roger opened the Kilver Court beautiful “secret gardens” to the public, and introduced the Sharpham Park organic farm shop, Harlequin cafe and wellness centre and it soon became a much coveted location for weddings and events. Since then the site has grown with renewal and regeneration being the driving forces behind the vision for making Kilver Court the best designer shopping experience in the UK, with Roger and his team of craftspeople transforming a range of historic industrial buildings with great care and expertise.
